The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) commenced a major revision of the ISO 14001 standard in 2013. After a 6 stage standard revision process, ISO 14001:2015 was published on 15 September 2015.
A 3 year transition period, commencing with the date of publication, has been defined for the introduction and application of the ISO 14001:2015 standard. During this transition period, both the old and new standard will apply in parallel.
ISO 14001 outlines requirements for an Environmental Management System (EMS) to help organizations improve their environmental performance, e.g. through more efficient use of resources and the reduction of waste. In the latest revision of the standard (ISO 14001:2015), a host of changes have been introduced.
Organizations that have already implemented an EMS have time until 14 September 2018 to comply with the new requirements.
If your organization already holds an ISO 14001 :2004 Certification, TUV SUD can help you prepare for the transition to the new ISO 14001 : 2015 by conducting IRCA approved Public Training Courses Schedule
Another way of systematic approach towards transition is that we can also help by conducting Readiness Review (Onsite) to check whether you are ready for the new versions before certification. We however strongly recommend that if you have multiple standards i.e. ISO 9001 / 14001, then it is advisable to upgrade both standards together to save time and money.
As an internationally accredited certification body for various management systems, TUV SUD’s certificates are accepted and recognized globally.
Kindly also be informed that OHSAS 18001 is expected to be upgraded to ISO 45001 Standard in the first half of 2017.
